President Joni Hannah
Joni Hannah is the Director of Tennis at Westwood Country Club where she is responsible for the oversight of the tennis professionals, support staff, facilities and the development and implementation of the club’s various tennis programs and activities. She played four years of collegiate tennis at Rollins College and has won several national titles at the senior level. Joni also works with USTA to promote tennis and is currently the Vice Chair of the Mid-Atlantic Senior Competition Committee
Past President John Cleary
John Cleary is the Director of Tennis and Fitness at Lakewood Country Club in Rockville, Md. He lives in Rockville with his wife Kelly and their two sons Sean (4), and Daniel (6 months). He is a four-time recipient of the USPTA Maryland Professional of the Year Award and also earned 35s Player of the Year honors in 2005. At Marist College, John was captain of the Division I men’s tennis team while earning a degree in communications. John worked at Norbeck Country Club in Rockville from 1996-2011, serving as the Director of Tennis from 2001. In his spare time John enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, piano, and attending live sporting events and concerts.
Vice President Jamie Peterson
Jamie Peterson is a graduate of Towson State University where he was a starter for four years and a captain for two. He is currently the Director of Tennis at Chartwell Golf and Country Club in Severna Park, MD. He was USTA Maryland’s Tournament Director of the Year in 2005 and has served for four years on the USTA Board as Second Vice President. He has raised money for Cystic Fibrosis and in doing so been named Annapolis’ Finest Forty Under Forty two years in a row. Jamie still plays competitively and has won 8 Maryland State Open Doubles Titles along with several Mid-Atlantic 35’s Championships in both singles and double. In 2010 and 2011, Jamie was named Mid-Atlantic USPTA 35 and over player of the year and is currently ranked # 7 in the forty and over division.
2nd Vice President Terence Killen
Terence is currently the Head Tennis Professional at Westwood Country Club in Vienna, Va., where he has been since 2005. He is a USPTA P1 and also holds a specialist degree in Competitive Player Development and Sport Science Level 1. Terence has been a HEAD Advisory Staff member since 2003, Liaison for Tennis Across America and Lessons for Life (Mid-Atlantic Division) since 2009, and Mid-Atlantic Division District President (Maryland) since 2009. Killen graduated from Frostburg State University in 2002 with a Bachelors of Science in Recreation and Parks Management. While attending college, he played varsity tennis all four years and upon graduation held the conference record in career wins, singles wins and doubles wins. Terence lives in Gaithersburg with his wife Randi and sons TJ and Shane.
Treasurer-JD AlmondA USPTA Pro 1, J.D. Almond became a tennis professional in 1990. "I was lucky enough to have a tennis professional take a chance on me at a country club in Northern Virginia," he says. J.D. is the now the General Manager at Tuckahoe Recreation Club in Mclean, Virginia.
JD has a master's degree in Sport Facility Management and Sport Coaching from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama. J.D. received his undergraduate degree in Business Management and Marketing from Longwood College in Farmerville, Virginia.in 1987. As a student at Longwood, he competed on the men's varsity tennis team as a walk-on in his four years. He was named the MVP in 1986.
In 1999, J.D. received the USPTA Mid-Atlantic High School Coach of the Year Award, an award given by fellow tennis professionals. He also received the Delaney Athletic Conference Tennis Coach of the Year Award in 1995, '96, '98, '99 and 2000, and was the 1992 and '93 Concorde District Coach of the Year. In his 12 years as a head tennis coach, J.D. has won over 100 matches. In addition to coaching in high school, J.D. had the opportunity to coach at the college level with George Mason University. He coached the women's tennis team in 2003-04.
J.D. was married to his wife Barbra in 2002 and they have two sons, Wyatt Christopher born in 2007 and their other son, Christopher Deyan born in 2009, was adopted from Bulgaria in the Spring of 2012.
Secretary-Jason Grigg
Jason graduated from Ferris State University with a degree in Professional Tennis Management. He is currently the Director of Tennis for Atlantic Coast Athletic Club in Charlottesville Virginia where he coaches USTA adult and junior teams, runs 10 and under programs, directs USTA, local, and charity tournaments. He brings with him eighteen years of teaching experience including directing Wintergreen Resort’s top ten Tennis Academy and teaching at the Boars Head Sport Club and is a USPTA1 certified teaching professional. He is currently the president of Charlottesville Area Tennis Association a non profit in Charlottesville creating a pathway for 10 and under tennis. He is also the USPTA Virginia District President and chairs the USPTA Mid-Atlantic Awards Committee.
Virginia State Rep-Craig HardenberghWith a love for the game and a passion for teaching, Craig Hardenbergh, USPTA Pro 1, became certified in 1985. He received a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Maryland in 1982 and started teaching tennis that same year for the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Va.
Craig is currently the director of tennis for the International Country Club in Fairfax, Va. He has served on the Mid-Atlantic Professional Tennis Association's advisory staff and was the MAPTA 35-and-over player of the year.
As a competitor, Craig spent four years on the men's varsity tennis team at the University of Maryland, where he was an all-conference player his senior year and the runner-up for the university's athlete of the year. He held national rankings of No. 5 in singles and No. 3 in doubles in men's 35s. He also competed in the Nuveen Champions tournament when it was held in the Washington, D.C., area. He is still competitive, despite having had a hip replacement. In 2010, Craig and his daughter Lindsey won their first gold ball at the National Father/Daughter grass courts.
Craig's goals include winning more national father-daughter doubles titles, continuing to increase tennis interest at his club, and publishing a book about the teaching method he developed.

Kent has bee the Rackets Director of the Elkridge Club in Baltimore Maryland since 2005. Kent is a originally from Australia. He moved to the US in 2001 after establishing and Directing one of the largest Junior Academies in Australia coaching over 350 students weekly. Kent has coached 4 juniors that were ranked top 20 in Australian Junior Tennis. He has been award the Tasmanian Coach of the Year and is certified as an Advanced Coach Tennis Coaches Australia. Kent is a USPTA P1 Professional and a High Performance USTA Coach.
West Virginia Rep-Sean Murphy
Sean Murphy is a USPTA-P1 certified professional originally from Eastbourne, England. Sean spent 13 years in South Africa, where he played his junior tennis, before attending University in the USA. Sean played collegiate tennis at Vincennes University, Indiana, where he won a National Junior College singles title and also became an All-American. He also played at The University of Charleston, WV, where he was voted WVIAC player of the year both years. Sean has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and has been a USPTA member since 1993. Sean has served as the Director of Tennis at the YMCA of Kanawha Valley, Charleston WV, for the last 12 years. Sean resides in Charleston, WV with his wife, Julie, and their two young children, Caroline and Luke
